How to
Start Caving:
Local Caving Clubs
One of the best places to get involved with caving is through a local chapter
of the National Speleological Society. These local chapters, called grottos, can
provide beginner trips and training opportunities. Follow this link to find the
local grotto near you. >>More
Caves of the National Parks
Several national parks have caves and most of those offer varied
opportunities to learn to explore caves. These range from guided lantern tours
in off-trail areas to long wild caving tours that require helmets, headlamps,
and other technical equipment. Follow this link to learn more about the caves of
the National Park Service.

Show Caves
If there are caves in your area, there are probably show caves as well. Some
show caves offer paid wild caving tours. Some of these can be pricey and not all
of them will be the most educational experience you will have, but it is a
chance to try caving without investing in a lot of your own equipment. Many of
these tours provide helmets and lights. Follow this link to learn more about
show caves in the United States.  >> More
